On the last day of what appears to be a lackluster Democratic National Convention, former President Barack Obama’s speech focused not on former Vice President and nominee, Joe Biden, but rather on his attack against the present administration.

Obama refused to hide his grave disdain against his successor, President Donald Trump, during his Wednesday speech on the DNC convention. Obama described Trump as an incompetent narcissist who is unable to lead the country out of the political, economic, and health crisis that Americans are going through.

Based on the preview by the campaign organizer, Obama claimed that Trump only sees the presidency as a “reality show that he can use to get the attention he craves.” He went on to say that he never had high hopes for his “successor”’ to continue his “‘visions” and policies. However, he did expect that his “successor” would take the position more “seriously.”

Obama claimed that given the country’s current situation, he never expected that Trump would fail as miserably as he did. The former President continued, “Donald Trump hasn’t grown into the job because he can’t.” The Democrat claimed that the administration’s failure to handle and contain the virus led to 170,000 people losing their lives from coronavirus infection. He also lamented that millions of Americans had lost their jobs due to the economic shutdown.

The former President also touched down on the issue of Democracy, and depicted the President as someone determined to “take it down.” He claimed that under Trump’s leadership, “democratic institutions” are under increasing threat now more than ever. He then went on to claim that with Biden as president, he can assure that the nominee would put Democracy at the forefront of his administration. Obama believed that partisanship had become an increasing issue in American politics, noting that there should not be a Republican or a Democrat principle, and instead- it should all be considered as American principle.

As if adding Biden as an afterthought, Obama finally referred to the Democratic nominee by describing him as a “‘confidant” and “brother” during his time in the White house.

Watch:

On the first day of the convention. Obama’s wife, Michelle, also expressed her resentment against the administration. The former First Lady went as far as to call Trump “‘the wrong president’” of the country. Moreover, just like her husband, the former First Lady claimed that in his four years as President, Trump failed to prove that he is capable of governing the U.S.

However, Trump refused to be bullied and pushed over by the Democrats. In a social media post, Trump responded to the former President’s speech by saying that he had made a lot of stupid transactions during his time at the White House.

In a new press briefing, Trump also believed that it was Obama’s failure, which had given way for him to win the Presidency. “Because if they did a good job, I wouldn’t be here.” He also told Michelle that it was her husband who had placed him in the position.
