House Financial Services Committee Rep. Maxine Waters lashed out on a Twitter tirade against President Donald Trump over his response to the deadly coronavirus pandemic. In her social media post, the lawmaker described the US president as an “incompetent idiot,” claiming that his incompetence becomes apparent whenever he speaks.

Waters wrote that Trump should stop praising himself on how he had dealt with the “COVID-19 disaster”. In fact, she accused the president of being a “failure” and that he had somehow mismanaged the crisis. “Your ignorance & incompetence are appalling & you continue to demonstrate that every time you open your mouth!” Waters added.

As if name-calling was not enough, the representative posted another vicious attack on the administration. Four minutes after her initial post, Waters called Trump an “incompetent idiot.” She had even dragged the president’s support on China, saying that while Trump sent 18 tons of personal protective equipment to mitigate the spread of the virus, he had completely ignored the early warning signs of the then-emerging pandemic. Waters added that the president had called the virus a “hoax” and that it had endangered the lives of medical practitioners and those in the essential service sector.

Finally, the staunch anti-Trump advocate demanded the president to ask for forgiveness for all the “harm” that he had caused during the pandemic.

Waters was one of the numerous Democrats and left-wing supporters who had tried to pin the blame on the president over the increasing number of patients and COVID-19 related deaths. In fact, in her Sunday’s appearance for MSNBC, she had accused Trump of being a liar and went on to question the same rhetoric of whether the president is truly capable of handling the national crisis.

In her statement, Waters claimed that Trump did not take the threat of the coronavirus seriously. Then, she went on to blame him for shutting down Obama’s pandemic office, which she claimed would have provided the planning and appropriate response in times of such crisis.

“I know that the president has gotten away with a lot of lying about,” Waters said. She even went on to cite that Trump had lied about partnering with the private sector or “big businesses” to fight the virus.

However, the president had already responded to such accusations during a confrontation with CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta. The commander in chief said that it had been almost a “miracle” that the administration, the coronavirus taskforce, and the private sector had all come together to fight the deadly virus.

Trump also boasted that a new rapid coronavirus test from the Abbot Laboratories had finally received a green light from the FDA.
