HEROIC: A Civilian and Police Officers Saves Family from Overturned Car
On Thursday, a civilian and police officers responded to an emergency call after a family was trapped in an overturned car in Orlando, Florida.
The entire rescue mission was captured in bodycam footage. According to Orlando Police Officer Mckenzie Green, she first saw the vehicle off Lee Vista Boulevard after it had fallen into a canal. Greene also noted that she saw an adult male and a four-year-old toddler was trapped inside. Moreover, authorities also saw a 7 to 8-year-old child screaming at the scene. Greene even added that the older child was “gut curdling” with fear.
In the footage, the older child who identified himself as Gabriel pleaded with police officers to immediately save his family who was trapped inside the car. Another officer, Corp. Maranford Johnson said that they quickly took off their gear and jumped into the water.
Thankfully, when the officers searched the vehicle, they already saw a civilian man, Jose Diaz, helping the family out. Diaz was trying to break free the two individuals who were trapped inside. A third officer at the scene, Officer Tyler Smith, confirmed that it was Diaz who called 911. He also tried to hold the child’s head above water until the police came to the rescue.
Greene eventually pulled the 4-year-old out of the vehicle by cutting off the car’s seat belt. Thankfully, the father was also able to activate his air pocket, which allowed him to talk to the police. He was able to escape when the police cut off the car doors. Greene claimed that she did not realize what could have happened until they finally secured everyone to safety. “I don’t think it hit me until all three people were out, and we took a deep breath, and we’re like, ‘We got them all out.”
Watch:
Gabriel’s father, Mr. Carrero, explained that he started to lose control of the vehicle when his car ran over something, and it hit the boardwalk, spiraling off a nearby canal. He was extremely grateful for Diaz and the police officers who were able to rescue him and his family, even adding that he considers it as an early “Christmas Gift.”
Officer Smith believed that God had placed him and Diaz at the scene to ultimately save lives.
While police officers were able to save an entire family from what could have been a tragic incident, left-wing politicians continued to demand to defund and even completely abolish the police force. Several socialist politicians, including Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, believed that she could have a better country without police presence, adding that it would have even felt like living in the “suburbs.”
On Tuesday, former U.S President Barack Obama, a good friend of the new President-elect, Joe Biden, believed that the liberals needed to have a precise language for the “Defund the Police movement” fears that they might be losing valuable voters and promoting even more misconceptions.
