Elon Musk has joined the exodus out of the Golden State as he announced that he is leaving California and is moving to Texas. Musk has cited business concerns as the primary reason for the move. Two of his main companies have interests in Texas. Tesla is opening a factory in Austin, while SpaceX is actually using a launch site for its tests in the southern part of the state.

Musk has compared California to a dominant sports team and has become complacent. “They do tend to get a little complacent, a little entitled, and then they don’t win the championship anymore,” Musk said during an interview with the Wall Street Journal. He said that “there’s a lot of things that are really great about California,” but the state is taking things for granted.

Musk also criticized the government regulators in the Bay Area, saying that they have too much influence in the world. Tesla’s founder has had some disagreements with government officials in California in the past. His move may not come as a surprise to many observers since he has hinted several times in the past that he may leave California. Back in May, he declared that Tesla will be moving its headquarters out of California after officials refused to allow its factory to open because of the pandemic.

“We’ve got the Starship development here in South Texas, where I am right now,” Musk said, “And then we’ve got big factory developments just outside Austin,” he added. It really does make more sense for Musk to stay in a state where his companies are conducting their business.

Musk is joining a long list of people who are fleeing California. The most popular podcaster in the world, Joe Rogan has also packed his bags and left the state. Other Hollywood celebrities have also decided to flee California in the middle of the pandemic and it’s not just celebrities who are moving out. Ordinary people are also moving into states like Texas and Idaho to flee from the high tax rates and leftist policies of California politicians.
