French President Macron has confirmed that the case of a street beheading that happened near Paris was in fact an Islamic terror attack. The victim of the attack was a teacher who tried to educate his students about the value of freedom of expression. The victim was not named but was reportedly targeted because he showed an image of the Islamic prophet to his class. He reportedly gave a disclaimer asking anyone who might be offended with what he was going to show to leave. He did that during a class that was around freedom of speech and expression.

“One of our countrymen was assassinated because he was teaching, because he was teaching his students about the freedom of expression, the freedom to believe or not believe,” Macron said during a press conference. “Our compatriot was cowardly attacked and was the victim of an Islamist terrorist attack, ” he added.

There are reports that the attacker was a Chechen migrant and that he had shared an image of a severed head on Twitter with the accompanying text: “In the name of Allah, the most merciful… to Macron, the leader of the infidels, I executed one of your hellhounds who dared to belittle Muhammad, calm his fellow human beings before a harsh punishment is inflicted on you.”

The attacker was later shot by police near the scene of the beheading while armed with what later turned out to be an airsoft gun and a bladed weapon. He acted in a threatening manner which forced the police to shoot him down. Six other suspects from the Chechen community are being held by the police. The cartoon that was shown by the teacher was the same one that was published by the satirical Charlie Hebdo magazine, which was also attacked by Islamist fanatics back in 2015 where 12 people were killed.

Last month, a Pakistani migrant attacked and injured two people outside the former offices of the magazine because it decided to republish the cartoons. These Islamist terror attacks are becoming the norm now in European countries that have accepted a huge influx of Muslim migrants.
