It seems that the Chinese Communist Party is set on spreading destruction all over the world. According to a marine conservation group that published an analysis, Chinese fishing vessels carried out more than 70,000 hours in the waters near Galapagos Islands just between the months of July and August. Ther conservation group Oceana has found out that over 300 Chinese fishing vessels worked on the waters off Galapagos. They were mainly trying to catch squid in that part of the ocean.

The report released by the group pointed out that squid is an essential part of the diet of many of the animals living in the Galapagos Islands. So, catching them in such large amounts as what the Chinese are doing can cause harm to the ecosystem of the famous islands. The fact that Chinese fishermen are pillaging the waters there also means that the local economy is suffering.

“Oceana analyzed data from fishing vessels found near the Galapagos Islands from July 13 to Aug. 13, 2020. During this one-month period, Oceana documented the Chinese fleet, which was primarily fishing for squid, logged more than 73,000 total hours of apparent fishing. In fact, 99% of the visible fishing activity off the Galapagos Islands during this one-month period was by Chinese-flagged vessels,” according to the analysis.

The vessels use a variety of ways so that they cannot be detected. China is considered to be the world’s worst violator of fishing regulations in the world on top of being the leading the world in violating other environmental standards. The country has also been using its vast fleet of fishing vessels to harass its neighbors in the South China Sea.

China has a long history of illegal fishing near the Galapagos, which is controlled by Ecuador. That has led to diplomatic disputes between the two countries in the past. The Ecuadorian Navy has reported that they have been monitoring the presence of the fleet of fishing vessels from China, but that has not slowed down the destruction being caused by the crew of the vessels.
