The first openly gay cabinet member, Ric Grenell, called President Donald Trump as the “most-pro gay”’ President of the United States.

In a campaign video, Grenell, who had served as the Acting Director of National Intelligence and Ambassador to Germany, believed that contrary to the Democrat’s pro-LGBTQ stand, he believed that former Vice President and Presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden had made countless decisions against members of the LGBTQ community.

Grenell explained several examples which proved that Biden was intolerant of gay people. First, the intelligence officer claimed that Biden “said gay people couldn’t receive security clearances because we would be a security risk.” He then laughed at the idea that now, one of the nation’s highest security officers is a gay man. Grenell then boasted how Trump was “unfazed” by his sexuality, and would rather see him for his accomplishments. He also continued that Biden did not even extend his congratulations or even gave him a single word of acknowledgment for his appointment. “But his silence was deafening,” Grenell noted.

He continued by saying that Trump was able to do more things to push for gay rights than the forty years that Biden had served in Washington. Grenell claimed that during his tenure as a U.S. senator, Biden had launched numerous attacks against the LGBT community.

First, he had done so by supporting the Defense Directive 1304.26 Act or more know as the “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” rule. As a compromise to finally put an end to ban homosexuals in the military, former President Bill Clinton agreed that military servicemen should not be asked about their sexual orientation. Many opposed the idea, claiming that military officials should be able to join the force without fear of discrimination or the need to hide their true sexual identity.

Second, Biden also supported the “Defense Marriage Act,” which denied same-sex couples the right to get married and have legal recognition of their relationships. By preventing gay marriages, Biden denied gay couples more than 1,000 protection and privileges. This includes access to partner’s employment benefits, joint tax, right to inheritance, or immigration of non-citizen partners. In a clip, Biden could be heard saying, “Marriage is between a man and a woman.”

Lastly, Biden also supported in favor of cutting off federal funding for schools that aims to teach kids about homosexuality. The intelligence officer also believed that Biden does not holds strong political and moral views. Rather, Grenell accused him of taking political stands that were convenient and beneficial for him at the time. He continued that by now, Biden had seen the progress that gay people had made, and that had changed his mind.

In the video, Grenell also described Trump as the “strongest ally” for gay Americans. He continued that during his term, Trump proved his commitment to pursue his pro-gay advocacies, adding that the mainstream media depicted the president as the enemy of the movement. He encouraged gay Republicans to stand up and refuse to believe the idea that gender equality is only a “partisan issue.” Grenell concluded, “Yesterday’s champions of ‘diversity’ are today’s intolerants.”
