White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany clarified on Thursday that President Donald Trump does not support QAnon, a movement that claims the President is waging war against an elite, powerful group of pedophiles in the country.

McEnany addressed the issue after President Donald Trump was asked to respond to a growing underground online movement called QAnon. In the briefing, Trump admitted that he does not know much about the movement, apart from his understanding that they supported the administration, “I understand they like me very much, which I appreciate,” he said.

He also believed that these are the people who had grown tired of watching the violence from Democrat-led states, including Portland, Chicago, and New York. He claimed that the group members are the people who truly love America and hated the political turmoil that the country is experiencing.

In an interview with Sandra Smith of Fox News, McEnany clarified that Trump did not support QAnon. The White House Press Secretary claimed that she had never heard the President mention the movement, especially since she had to talk to Trump for more than ten times a day. McEnany claimed that while it is gaining media attention, Trump is focused on handling the coronavirus pandemic, especially since the country’s economy is starting to show signs of recovery from the economic downturn.

When she was asked about the President’s statement about QAnon members are people who “‘love the country,” McEnany cited that Trump was referring to his supporters. She continued that the President always sees his supporters as “hardworking people who love the country.” The Press Secretary added that the President did not know much about the movement and that the media simply tend to overanalyze information.

Former White House press secretary, Ari Fleischer, suggested that Trump should “denounce” QAnon simply as a “bunch of wackadoodle.” On the other hand, Democratic nominee Joe Biden criticized the President for his comment, saying that he aims to validate a “conspiracy theory” and encourage “violent organizations.” However, Democrats refused to denounce Antifa, a radical left-wing group wreaking havoc and chaos across American cities.
