In a viral video, a police officer told a Black Lives Matter protester that he is resigning from the police force as a result of the ongoing political unrest in Seattle, “You guys won,” the officer said.

On Saturday, the video quickly became viral when a uniformed policeman pulled up in front of a BLM protester. He then rolled down his car window and asked the man, “You having a good day today?” to which he responded that he wasn’t since he was seeing him around. The officer smiled and told the activist not to worry because he is leaving the force anyway. “You guys won. Two months, baby, I’m out,” the exhausted officer said.

The officer then repeated the phrase. The protester then asked him what he felt leaving the police department, and the officer claimed that it was “‘great.” The protester asked the officer if he could stay for an interview, and the officer politely declined.

The activist then asked, “So, what, you’re just tired of, police brutality? Or are you tired of what’s going on right..” While the officer’s response seemed inaudible, the protester could be heard saying, “‘Oh us.” When the officer decided to drive away, the man screamed to his fellow activists that he is resigning because of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Before the officer left, the man threw profanities against him, “Hey, fu– you.” The man also claimed that he could never be his friend.

After the video was posted, a riot ensued on Sunday night, where law enforcement authorities arrested 18 people. According to authorities, the protest began in a SoDo neighborhood at around 7 p.m. They believed that around 100 people gathered and made their way on foot to the SPOG building.

Authorities listed Sunday’s attack as one of the most violent riots in the city. Officers even remarked how activists used projectiles to inflict maximum harm against them. As a result, several officers were injured, including one who suffered lacerations at the neck. Another sustained a blow below her eye socket and had also sustained burns on the back of her neck. Demonstrators also blew up a car in a massive explosion.

Just this month, Seattle’s first Balck Police Chief finally retired after months of unrest and lack of support from the Democrat-led state. As protesters called to defund the police, the city council also slashed Best’s annual salary from $285,000 to a bare minimum of just $10,000. However, Best claimed that she was willing to work with the massive salary cuts.

However, she cannot stand to watch as many as 100 officers being laid off. The former police chief said that most of these officers were young people, coming from colored communities. “It really is about the overarching lack of respect for the officers,” Best said.
