On Tuesday, the police arrested a man who shot his five-year-old neighbor in the head at point-blank range in North Carolina.

In a report from the WTVD, 25-year-old Darius Nathaniel Sessoms was charged with first-degree murder for the death of his 5-year old neighbor, Cannon Hinnant. Both Sessoms and Hinnant were living at a Wilson mobile park when the incident took place. According to the victim’s family, Hinnat was playing with his sister, ages 8 and 7, when the suspect walked up to the 5-year-old and shot him on the head. Police reports established no motive for the murder.

Hinnant is immediately rushed to the hospital, where he later died. Bonny Waddell recounted that his son was about to start kindergarten and was just learning to write his name before the suspect killed him.

Sadly, this is just one of the several shooting incidents that had taken place in the Democrat-led state. That same day, two men were also found dead in two separate shooting incidents in Durham. According to reports, the first incident took place at the intersection of Jackson Street and Underwood. When the police arrived at the scene, they already found 21-year-old Joshua Lindsey, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound. Later, Lindsey was also pronounced dead.

Hours later, authorities also responded to another shooting incident at the intersection of Liberty Street and Elm Street. At the scene, police found 48-year old Reginald Bowling lying on the ground. He was also pronounced dead. Durham police confirmed that the two shooting incidents were not related.

Back in June, three people were also killed at a shooting during a bloc party in Charlotte. At that time, 400 people had gathered at the north side of the city as a continuation of the Juneteenth celebrations.

Suddenly, multiple people fired shots into the packed venue. Authorities were able to establish that there are multiple gunmen at the scene, as video footage recorded sounds from guns of different calibers. They were also able to retrieve 100 casings at the scene.

As a result, six other individuals were wounded, while five others were hit by vehicles as they attempted to run away from the shooting. Betty Oates, a resident in Charlotte, told ABC News that “We are already in a crisis. God, here we are in another crisis on top of another crisis.”
