President Trump commuted the sentence of Roger Stone on Friday, several days before the term of the sentence was about to start. Reports say that the President called Stone on Friday to inform him of his plans to commute his sentence. Stone got his sentence as part of the investigation that was conducted by special counsel Robert Mueller into the supposed collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government back in 2016. Although the allegations of collusion have been proven to be false as nothing more than inventions of the Democrats to make things difficult for the administration, Stone still got his sentence.

Political commentator John Cardillo shared a photo of himself with Stone with this message on Twitter, “Roger is feeling and looking better than he has in months, and wants you all to know how much he appreciates all the love and support.”

The White House issued a statement and part of it read, “Roger Stone is a victim of the Russia Hoax that the Left and its allies in the media perpetuated for years in an attempt to undermine the Trump Presidency. There was never any collusion between the Trump Campaign, or the Trump Administration, with Russia.” Stone was sentenced back in February and is only free because of bail. He was convicted for making false statements during his testimony back in 2017 to the House Intelligence Committee. The commutation means that he will not serve any time in prison but it means his conviction still stands, meaning he is still guilty in a legal sense. He is still working on appealing his conviction which would clear his name.

Stone is just one victim of the witch hunt perpetrated by the Democrats and their allies in the mainstream media. They pushed the Russia collusion lie even if there was no evidence for it. After it has been proven that they just invented everything and they had no evidence for it, they just dropped it.

It’s certain that the left will attack this move by the President to say that he is using his power to get his friends scot-free. They will try to paint this in the worst possible light for the President.
