On Friday, an 82-year-old Trump supporter who was viciously assaulted for holding a pro-Trump sign got a surprise call from the president’s son during the Howie Carr Show in WBSM.

Charlie Chase, the 82-year-old man, was holding his Trump sign Tuesday in Fall River, Massachusetts when suddenly, a 27-year-old man, later identified as Aidan Courtright allegedly stopped his car and walked toward Chase, screaming “Give me the (expletive) sign!” according to a report by Providence Journal. The police said that Courtright took the sign from Chase, ripped it in half, threw it down, and then proceeded to assault Chase.

Courtright then grabbed the old man by his shirt, knocked his hat off, and threw him down to the ground. Not finished, the suspect kicked Chase in the ribs and legs before finally driving away.

The attacker was arrested on Thursday and charged with assault and battery on a person over 60, civil rights violation with injury and vandalism of personal property, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Donald Trump Jr. heard about the appalling and heartbreaking news and took to Twitter to find Chase’s contact information. Then radio host Howie Carr responded that Chase was coming on his radio show on WBSM.

Joining Carr on his radio show, Chase told the host that his attacker looked as “scary, ugly, and angry” as any movie character. “I’ve never seen a face like that in my 82 years. It was so scary. I was frozen for a little while,” Chase said, describing his horrifying experience.

Chase then became emotional after receiving a surprise call from the president’s son.

“I just wanted to say I saw your story, and I’m sorry you had to go through that,” said Trump Jr. “We really appreciate the support and stuff like that shouldn’t be going on in America, and I just wanted to say thank you for that support. Thank you for your steadfast loyalty for your service to our country.”

Chase responded, overcome with emotions, saying that he has to thank them. “You don’t know how much you mean to us. Thank you.”

“I promise you, it’s guys like you that keep us motivated, patriot Americans, and thank you so much for your service to our country,” said Trump Jr. He also commended Chase’s generation and said that he wished we had more like them. Trump Jr. also promised to have his team get Chase extra “MAGA swag,” with hats, flags, gears, and everything.

“Well, thank you,” Chase responded. “This will not scare me away. I’m going to be doing this continuously right up until the election.”
