During an interview on Friday, Dr. Anthony Fauci stated that the rioting and the looting happening across the country today are the ideal setups for the coronavirus to spread even further. He told people that they should avoid joining the protests but if they cannot avoid joining them that they should wear masks.

Fauci didn’t have to remind the rioters to wear masks because most of them do cover their faces when they are looting stores and other businesses in multiple cities across the country. The riots are supposed to be protests over the killing of George Floyd by a police officer in Minnesota but for the most part, have degenerated to anarchy and lawlessness. Fauci’s opinion is going to be unpopular with the mainstream media which has largely lauded the mass gatherings of the protestors.

Fauci added that, “not only are they congregating physically close to each other. But often, when they start screaming and demonstrating, which is part of the process of demonstrating, I’m not criticizing that, but I’m saying what it’s going to be leading to is a likelihood that you might have situations where you would force the spread of infection, and that’s really of concern.” Fauci was obviously trying not to offend the leftwing protestors with what he is trying to say, which is reminding them that the virus is still out there and will still infect them.

He explained that while people do have the right to demonstrate and yet the act can cause infections to rise so it is a delicate balance. It will be remembered that when there were protestors who were demonstrating the harsh lockdown measures imposed by mostly Democrats, the media quickly criticized the protestors, even though they were all orderly and peaceful. They said that the protestors are going to spread the virus.

When the riots started, which were perpetrated by Antifa thugs and leftwing progressives, they became silent and made no mention of the possibility of the virus spreading because of the mass gatherings. This is just another case of the mainstream media which is largely supportive of the leftwing politics being hypocritical.
