Left-wing media went on a frenzy after President Donald Trump “allegedly” suggested that Americans should “inject” disinfectant as a way to break down the “Chinese Virus.”

However, the White House was not all too happy with the media twisting and taking the president’s comments out of context. In a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany lambasted left-wing media, “Leave it to the media to irresponsibly take President Trump out of context and run with negative headlines.”

The president’s controversial comments went out during Thursday’s White House coronavirus task force briefing. In his statement, Trump shared some of the discussions he had with experts to use light and disinfectant to break down the COVID-19 virus. The problem is that the media used Trump’s comments as a form of a smear campaign.

A headline from left-wing media, MSNBC read: “Experts blast Trump’s idea of injecting disinfectant to treat coronavirus.” While New York Intelligencer wrote: “Trump Suggests Injecting Disinfectant to Treat Coronavirus.” Even NBC called out Trump’s suggestion as both “irresponsible” and “dangerous.”

However, based on the real transcript, Trump shared his discussion with Bill Bryan, head of the science and technology directorate at the Department of Homeland Security. During the said briefing, Bryan shared the federal government’s finding that sunlight, humidity, temperature, and disinfectant can have an effect on the coronavirus. Bryan continued by saying that they have looked into bleach, as well as isopropyl alcohol, on how it can kill the virus, specifically in saliva or other respiratory fluids.

Bryan added that the results show the bleach can kill the virus within five minutes, while the isopropyl alcohol can do the job in a matter of 30 seconds. The expert added that the process does not even include other “manipulation,” such as rubbing. “You rub it, and it goes away even faster. We’re also looking at other disinfectants, specifically looking at the COVID-19 virus in saliva,” he said.

The president also shared some of the insights and how ultraviolet light can also be a possible way to eradicate the virus, sounding with much enthusiasm. Trump added that “And then I see the disinfectant where it knocks it out in a minute. One minute. And is there a way we can do something like that by injection inside or, or almost a cleaning? Because you see it gets on the lungs, and it does a tremendous number, so it will be interesting to check that.”

The president also reminded the public to verify his claims and to go to a medical doctor to ensure that they are doing the procedure.

Trump then concluded that the main takeaway of the study is to find the most effective ways to break down the virus within one minute. “It’s pretty powerful,” the president added.

After the twisted headlines went out, one of the country’s leading disinfectant brands, Lysol, warned the public not to inject bleach. In a statement from Reckitt Benckiser, the manufacturer of Lysol said that “under no circumstance” should anyone administer disinfectant to the human body, either by injection, or even ingestion.
