While the ongoing economic and health crisis brought stress, anxiety, and even uncertainty to a lot of Americans, the nation took it as an opportunity to show its resilience.

As President Donald Trump laid out the groundwork for the country’s gradual reopening some residents tried to cheer up their community and their loved ones through simple acts of kindness, and humor.

In a submission to Fox News, one social media user shared a photo of her father celebrating his 78th birthday. The user claimed that although her father lived a few minutes’ drive away, the family could not visit him in fear that his underlying diseases such as cancer and COPD made him vulnerable to the “Chinese virus.” She added, “These are tough times, but we will get through this, no doubt.”

On the other hand, one grandma was lucky enough to have a surprise window visit from her two grandsons at Independence Village in Avon Lake in Cleveland.

In the same village, families and loved ones held a “Honks for Hugs” Parade to share their love for their senior residents. Participants of the said parade carried American flags as a reminder of solidarity.

Even healthcare workers who are currently on the frontlines of the battle against coronavirus also took their time to reflect and pray. In a Fox news submission, Dr. Clint Baird and his wife Alisa Baird at the Cura TeleHealth and Wellness Center staff were visited by their church ministers from Life Church South Tulsa to bring in food supplies and prayers. According to the submission, medical workers were in tears for the Church’s support and kindness.

On a lighter note, an Arkansas pastor found photos of his own church members on the pews. Members of the said Church explained that they did not want their pastor to feel alone while delivering a service in an empty room as a result of strict stay-at-home orders.

While the rest of the country stayed indoors to celebrate Easter, kind-hearted residents came to share a donation at the Hackensack University Medical Center-Joseph M Sanzari Children’s Hospital. The donor explained that since they were unable to hold their annual Easter Egg Hunt at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Park Ridge, NJ, they instead made 875 eggs to give to the children’s hospital. “Drs. and nurses, who may not have time this year to stuff their own eggs for their own children…as they tirelessly work to save lives. God Bless them all,” the donor said.

Others marched to their own drums as a way to lift the community spirit. In another Fox News submission, the family walked around the neighborhood in a single file, while their neighbors sat along at the edge of the street. Then, one of the neighbors suggested, “how about a fanfare!” The family came back carrying trumpets, while bystanders played any instruments they have at home.

Finally, to avoid the risk of infection, a couple went around wearing matching dinosaur costumes on their way to the supermarket in New Jersey, which left their fellow grocers laughing.

On Thursday, President Donald Trump announced that he had finally given the green light to the country’s “gradual reopening” after weeks of an immediate government shutdown. In a statement, the president claimed that through consultation with the coronavirus task force, and the latest data, experts agreed that the country could begin “the next front in our war.” Trump also assured Americans that “We’re opening up our country.”
