President Donald Trump took the side of the protesters across the country who have been demonstrating against the harsh lockdown conditions that have been imposed by some state governments. “I just think that some of the governors have gotten carried away,” the president said during the press briefing in the White House, referring to the governors of the states where the protests are happening.

Some of the orders went way beyond enforcing social distancing, and the president singled out Michigan governor Gretchen Whitmer who has given out orders that were considered to be questionable by some, including the president. For example, Whitmer has banned people from going out on their boats and yet has allowed kayakers. She has also prohibited the sale of car seats and seeds for gardening and yet has not banned the sale of marijuana. Another governor that was singled out by Trump was Virginia’s governor, who has signed additional gun laws while pandemic is raging through the country.

Protesters in Michigan are particularly angry at the draconian and what seems to be random rules that have been enforced by the state government. The protesters at the state capitol shouted chants and showed signs that compared Witmer to Hitler because of the strict rules which infringed the rights of her constituents to move freely.

Some of the protesters carried rifles as they stood around the state capitol, and that was particularly triggering to leftists who are horrified at the idea of private individuals owning guns, let alone walking around with rifles in full display. If they had their way, liberals would completely ban private ownership in the country, which will be a direct violation of the constitution.

Many of the protesters are calling for the reopening of businesses to jumpstart the economy so they can start working again. Millions of Americans have lost their jobs because of the pandemic, and many are afraid that if the economy is not opened again soon, many more will lose their jobs and that the country might see the worst depression in its history.

Some are accusing the democratic governors of intentionally keeping their economies under lockdown to damage the economy. They are doing that to discredit Trump and hurt his chances of getting reelected. They are willing to sacrifice the livelihood of their constituents so that they can derail Trump’s campaign.
