Black College Student Complains There are 'Too Many White People' At the University’s Multicultural Center
A viral video of student at the University of Virginia getting upset about the presence of “too many white” students at the multicultural center has caused some controversy.
The student was recorded making a “public service announcement” to a lounge full of other students asking some of them to leave the UV’s campus diversity centre.
“Excuse me, if y’all didn’t know, this a MSC (multicultural student center) and frankly there’s just too many white people in here and this a space for people of color,” she said. “So just be really cognizant of the space that you’re taking up because it does make some of us POCs (people of color) uncomfortable when we see too many white people in here. It’s only been open for four days. And frankly, there’s the whole university for a lot of y’all to be at and there’s very few spaces for us so keep that in mind.”
Apparently, she’s not the only one who feels uncomfortable about “too many white people,” because her announcement got cheers and applause.
Young America’s Foundation tweeted the video Wednesday, criticizing the student’s speech as “racist intolerance” instead of inclusiveness. The video has been viewed 4.5 million times.
“Leftists at the University of Virginia are dictating who is and who isn’t allowed in the new Multicultural Student Center,” tweeted Young America’s Foundation.

On Wednesday, the University of Virginia officials made a statement regarding their four new student centers, including their expanded LGBTQ center. The university said its multicultural student center will offer more spaces that “embrace and support the diversity of the institution.”
UVA President Jim Ryan stated, “I believe deeply that we need to build a community that is not just diverse, but also inclusive.’
UVA this month introduced four new and expanded student centers in Newcomb Hall. Since the opening, some questions have been raised regarding the scope or inclusivity of these centers and their missions.
