Pete Buttigieg stated during the Democratic debate that he might not have killed Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Qasem Soleimani.

The debate moderater asked Buttigieg if he would have ordered the drone strike.

“It depends on the circumstances. It depends if there was an alternative, and it depends what the different effects would be. That’s my point. This is not an episode of 24. This is a situation that requires you actually evaluate the entire intelligence picture,” replied Buttigieg.

Buttigieg, who served in the Navy from 2009-2017, went on to criticize President Trump for ordering the drone strike.

In January, Buttigieg said Soleimani deserved death and called him a “threat,” during an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper.

When former Vice President Joe Biden was asked the same question, he said no because there wasn’t any “evidence yet of an imminent threat that was going to come from him.” Biden used the opportunity to bash Trump and added, “This guy doesn’t deserve to be Commander in Chief for one more day!”

Osama Bin Laden would still be alive if it were Biden’s decision.

Last week Buttigieg’s campaign was mocked for adding fake applause to his town hall.
