Rush Limbaugh is one of the most “powerful” voices in conservative media. So when the talk radio king announced that he had cancer, President Donald Trump immediately shared his sentiments and hoped for Rush’s speedy recovery.

“Many people do not know what a great guy & fantastic political talent the great Rush Limbaugh is. There is nobody like him. Looking for a speedy recovery for our friend!” Trump tweeted.

Trump also acknowledged the massive support and influence Limbaugh had during his presidential campaign, “I want to thank Rush Limbaugh for the tremendous support he has given to the MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN Movement and our KEEP AMERICA GREAT Agenda! He is a major star who never wavered despite the Fake News Hits he has had to endure. His voice is far bigger than theirs!

During his talk show on Monday, Limbaugh had announced to his 20-million strong audience that he had been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. As the host struggled in coming to terms with his condition, Limbaugh opened up that he knew his fans would understand.

“So, I have to tell you something today that I wish I didn’t have to tell you. It’s a struggle for me because I had to inform my staff earlier today. I can’t help but feel that I’m letting everybody down. The upshot is that I have been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer,” the host shared.

Limbaugh had also recognized the bond he shared between his audience for the past years. “This day has been one of the most difficult days in recent memory, for me, because I’ve known this moment was coming, I’m sure that you all know by now that I really don’t like talking about myself and I don’t like making things about me… one thing that I know, that has happened over the 31-plus years of this program is that there has been an incredible bond that had developed between all of you and me,” he said.

For Fox News Opinion Writer, Brent Bozell, the talk show host represented the “True North” movement and applauds his outstanding view of the world. “He is unapologetically the True North for an entire movement, the clarion call of personal liberty, a champion of national defense and a defender of a civil society. Millions around the country turn their radios on at noon every day, as they have week after week, month after month, year after year, to hear his take on whatever current event is dominant, knowing he’ll always come through,” Bozell wrote.

However, despite his illness, Limbaugh promised to try and keep everything as normal as possible. Finally, he shared what his fans truly meant for him. “I felt that I had to tell you because that’s the kind of relationship that I feel like I have with those of you in this audience. Over the years, a lot of people have been very nice, telling me how much this program has meant to them but, whatever that is, it pales in comparison to what you all have meant to me.” “The rest of the world may not, but, I know that you do,” Limbaugh said.
