Latest RNC Ad Features CNN’s Don Lemon and Guests Mocking Trump Supporters
CNN’s Don Lemon is helping President Trump get re-elected.
The Republican National Committee (RNC) released clips of the viral CNN segment where Lemon, ex-GOP strategist Rick Wilson, and New York Times oped writer Wajahat Ali mocked President Trump’s supporters as “credulous rubes.”
“The incredulous boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump that wants to think that ‘Donald Trump’s the smart one. Y’all elitist are dumb,’” said Rick Wilson, in a Southern drawl, while Lemon had a laughing fit.
The segment was not a good look for CNN, but most Americans didn’t even notice it until President Trump tweeted it on Monday. But the segment fits perfectly in the RNC’s ad to re-elect Trump.
The ad includes footage from 2016, when former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton famously called half of Trump’s supporters a “basket of deplorables,” and MSNBC’s Chris Matthews’s insulting remark, “Trump loves the low information guy.”
The RNC added clips of former Vice President Joe Biden declaring Trump’s base as racists, and Pete Buttigieg saying anyone who supports Trump is “at best, looking the other way on racism” to the ad, and ended it daring viewers to “prove them wrong in November.”
