To end the historic fight between Israel and Palestine, President Trump hopes to fulfill the promise of peace once and for all.

In a historic feat, President Donald Trump will be hosting two leading political foes Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israel Defense Force Chief of General Staff Benny Gantz at the White House. The meeting was set as Trump formally unveils the U.S. peace proposal for Israel and Palestinian Arabs, in what will be known as the “Deal of the Century”.

“We’ll show a plan that has worked on by everyone. We’ll see if it catches hold. If it does, that’d be great. If it doesn’t, it’s okay,” Trump said in a statement with Prime Minister Netanyahu. The president also confirmed that he had invited Gantz to the announcement, to show that the deal is not a political move, but rather it serves as an “opportunity of peace.”

The deal heats up as the upcoming Israeli election draws to a close. According to a report by the Jerusalem Post, Trump referred to the two as “good competition, fighting out.” The post revealed that the plan might include annexation of Israeli settlements to Israel, as well as some settlements in the Jordan Valley, for “maximum territory.” The goal is to provide a link between the West Bank and the Gaza Strip through Israeli territory which will also provide a clear line between the two opposing camps.

According to the Jewish Press, the publication claimed that eventually, the plan is to create an independent Palestinian-Arab state. “His goal is to present to these allies of the settlement enterprise the red lines of Jewish settlement which must not be crossed in any future agreement between Israel and Palestinian Authority,” the publication wrote.

With the new peace treaty, Trump hopes to convince the opposition with a promise of economic progress. Despite the wide criticism from left-wing and even some right-wing supporters over the creation of an independent Palestinian-Arab state, Trump hopes to bring peace by focusing on the economic aspect of the deal.

Trump hopes to convince the opposition to agree by providing Palestinians with a dream of economic prosperity that will allow $50 billion of cash flow. The treaty also includes the promise of advancement in the field of technology and education, as well as major investments in infrastructure including water, electric facilities, an establishment in the industrial sector, and incentives for private sector and businesses.

Through a century of fighting and unrest, Trump hopes that the peace process will eventually seal the deal between Israel and Palestine. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that a peace process was attempted between the two countries.

Almost 30 years ago, the secret talks between the two camps known as the Oslo Peace process had begun under the leadership of Bill Clinton. However, despite the promising beginning, hope was immediately dashed as problems in the agreement became imminent. Netanyahu claimed it as a “moral threat” while some Palestinians were quick to judge the country’s “surrender.”

For this new peace treaty, Trump hopes to finally unite the two conflicting territories.

“We’ll see what happens,” Trump said.
