President Trump announced on Twitter he will attend the March for Life event on Friday. The annual pro-life event, held in Washington, D.C., will be the group’s 47th march.

“Life Empowers: Pro-Life is Pro-Woman,” is this year’s theme, and begins with a rally on the National Mall followed by a march that ends at the Supreme Court.

Trump spoke at the event in 2018, by video feed, and was the first president to do so. He will be the first president in history to ever attend a March for Life event.

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ) will also be speaking at the rally.

Jeanne Mancini, president of March for Life, praised President Trump and his administration calling them “consistent champions for life” for their unwavering support.

“He will be the first president in history to attend and we are so excited for him to experience in person how passionate our marchers are about life and protecting the unborn,” said Mancini in a statement.

“From the appointment of pro-life judges and federal workers, to cutting taxpayer funding for abortions here and abroad, to calling for an end to late-term abortions, President Trump and his Administration have been consistent champions for life and their support for the March for Life has been unwavering. We are grateful for all these pro-life accomplishments and look forward to gaining more victories for life in the future,” stated Mancini.

President Trump declared January 22,2020, National Sanctity of Human Life Day.

“Every person — the born and unborn, the poor, the downcast, the disabled, the infirm, and the elderly — has inherent value.  Although each journey is different, no life is without worth or is inconsequential; the rights of all people must be defended. On National Sanctity of Human Life Day, our Nation proudly and strongly reaffirms our commitment to protect the precious gift of life at every stage, from conception to natural death,” stated part of Trump’s proclamation.
