Over 80,000 Canadian citizens have signed a petition demanding that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle pay the bill for their own security while they are living in Canada.

The online petition started by the Canadian Taxpayer Federation asks PM Justin Trudeau not to pay for the couple’s security.

“Canadians wish the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, all the best as they seek financial independence. That goal is important because Canadian taxpayers shouldn’t have to cover the couple’s bills,” reads part of the petition.

“We, the undersigned, call on the prime minister to ensure taxpayers’ money isn’t used to support Harry and Meghan.”

Prince Harry, Meghan, and baby Archie’s security costs are estimated to be over $10 million annually, and it’s unclear if Buckingham Palace will pay the bill.

The Canadian Press reported Trudeau has refused to comment whether Canada is footing the bill.

Maybe Prince Harry and Meghan can cover the bill for the first year since Prince Charles stated he would “provide financial support” for a year.
