House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) misinterpreted texts between Lev Parnas and the founder of Burisma, Mykola Zlochevsky, as messages between Parnas and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, according to Politico.

The issue came up when Schiff’s letter to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) summarized new evidence from Lev Parnas, a Ukrainian businessman who is currently facing fraud indictment charges.

Schiff claimed Parnas “continued to try to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky,”and cited text exchanges between Parnas and Giuliani when Parnas texted, “trying to get us mr. Z.” The rest of the messages - which was attached to Schiff’s letter to Nadler— was redacted.

Politico reviewed the unreacted version and found Parnas sent Giuliani a document showing notes from an interview with Burisma’s founder Mykola Zlochevsky, then a text message to Giuiani said “mr Z answers my brother,” where Parnas meant “mr Z” to refer to Zlochevsky and not Ukraine President Zelensky.

Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) blasted Schiff for the error when he spoke to Sean Hannity on Fox News.

“The truth is, Adam Schiff and the Democrats have been doing nefarious things with Parnas,” said Nunes.
