The streets of Brooklyn will be safer thanks to the Guardian Angels, an unarmed crime prevention group. The organization’s founder Curtis Sliwa said they would start patrolling the Jewish neighborhoods in response to the increase of anti-Semitic attacks in the area.

Silwa told the press Jews have become easier targets because Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio “have made it easier” for criminals to attack Jews. “An attack on a Jew is an attack on everyone in New York City,” Silwa said.

Under New York’s bail reform law which goes into effect on January 1, defendants charged with nonviolent or felony crimes will not have bail. The law signed by Gov. Cuomo last spring, will make an estimated 880 prisoners eligible to get out of jail.

Mayor de Blasio promised to issue the defendants free movie passes, baseball tickets, and even gift cards to entice them to return on their court dates.
