Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Adam Schiff (D-CA) got slapped with reality while he was making a speech about the House’s Armenian Genocide Recognition resolution at the Glendale library on Saturday.

Protestors interrupted Schiff by chanting “liar, liar!” and “you’re going to jail.” Trump supporters held up signs that read “Don’t Impeach,” and “Trump 2020.”

Ara Khachaturian, the event moderator and editor of the Armenian-American news publication the Daily Asbarez, tried to quiet the protestors down, telling the attendees, “This is an event that’s honoring 1.5 million victims of the Armenian genocide. If you’re choosing to interrupt this event, please leave! I will not tolerate anyone disrespecting the memory of my grandfather and the memory of 1.5 million grandfathers.”

When the chants started dying down, Schiff was able to say, “For 19 years, I’ve made (recognition) one of my top priorities to try to accomplish in Congress, but for many of you, it has been a struggle that has gone on far longer. I know at times, along the way, there were many who wondered if we would ever see this day, whether we’d be able to overcome the enormous opposition of the Turkish Lobby and Azeri Lobby.”

Schiff was reportedly unfazed by the angry protestors but stood behind bodyguards and police officers, and eventually took selfies with some of the supporters.
