he Democrat majority on the House Judiciary Committee took just 7 minutes to overrule Republicans and the American people and voted to move forward with impeaching President Trump. This means that the full House will vote early next week to finalize impeachment. It, again, is expected to pass based on simple party-line voting. Once that happens President Trump will face a Senate trial, tentatively scheduled for January 2020, to see if he will be removed from office.

The hasty vote took place Friday morning after camera time-hungry ring leader Jerry Nadler (D-NY) abruptly postponed the vote to get better TV coverage in the morning. Rep. Doug Collins (R-GA) called it, “the most bush league stunt I’ve ever seen in my entire life.” Adding, “Words cannot describe how inappropriate this was.” Collins stormed out of the hearings following the vote.

This sets up a full House vote where congressional watchers expect this to be the first impeachment in history FULLY pushed by only one political party. While some moderate Democrats do plan to vote against impeachment next week, it seems as though no Republicans will vote for. This is a historic change from past impeachments in which congress members have voted with their own conscience and the will of their constituents instead of just along political party lines.
