The Democrat’s impeachment witness Prof. Pamela Karlan spoke of President Trump’s 13-year-old son Barron Trump and why President Trump couldn’t use his power to bestow titles of nobility.

“So kings could do no wrong because the kings word was law. And contrary to what President Trump has said, Article II does not give him the power to do anything he wants,” said Karlan. “I’ll just give you one example that shows you difference between him and a king. Which is the Constitution says there can be no titles of nobility. So while the President can name his son Barron, he can’t make him a baron.”

Normally, mocking or criticizing minor children of presidents are considered off limits and their names should not be mentioned in court hearings either.

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) denounced Karlan during the hearing for bringing up the President’s youngest son.

First Lady Melania defended her son Barron and shamed Karlan on Twitter, “A minor child deserves privacy and should be kept out of politics. Pamela Karlan, you should be ashamed of your very angry and obviously biased public pandering, and using a child to do it.”

White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham went to Twitter to respond to Karlan’s comment. Grisham wrote, “Classless move by a Democratic ‘witness’ Professor Karlan uses a teenage boy who has nothing to do with this joke of a hearing (and deserves privacy) as a punchline.” She added, “What’s worse, it’s met by laughter in the hearing room. What is being done to this country is no laughing matter.”

Donald Trump Jr also criticized Karlan for mentioning Barron. Trump Jr tweeted, “Remember only children of Liberals (even the 50 year old children) are off limits. That a 13 year old is fair game for partisan hacks on a national platform shows you all you need to know about the new left and who is now running the ship.”

Later, Trump Jr tweeted an image that revealed Karlan donated to Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Hillary Clinton’s campaign, supported impeachment of Trump two years ago, and was an Obama appointee.
