Senator Kamala Harris (D-CA) has officially dropped out of the 2020 presidential race. Harris’ withdrawal comes after her high-profile New York fundraiser was cancelled and her drop in the recent polls. The news reports of her failing campaign from staff members certainly didn’t help either.

The New York fundraiser was supposed to take place on Tuesday but was suddenly cancelled due to a “personal matter,” but the event was not rescheduled. Campaign donors were notified of the decision early Tuesday.

For months Harris was slipping in the polls and struggling with fundraising.

Harris is the second Democrat to drop from the presidential race.

Harris tweeted Tuesday morning, “To my supporters, it is with deep regret—but also with deep gratitude—that I am suspending my campaign today. But I want to be clear with you: I will keep fighting every day for what this campaign has been about. Justice for the People. All the people.”
