Ahead of the House Democrats impeachment report to the Judiciary Committee, expected to be submitted sometime Tuesday, House Republicans submitted their own report on Monday afternoon. After hearing all the testimony, Republican congressmen and women created a 123-page summary of the hearings. This summarizes the testimony from their point of view and defends President Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.

The “prebuttal” report concluded that President Trump’s hesitancy to meet with Ukrainian President Zelensky, and provide military aid to the country was “entirely prudent.” This is due to the fact that President Trump had a “deep-seated, genuine, and reasonable skepticism” of the money being misused in the Ukraine because of the country’s history of corruption. Furthermore, the President acted properly in being cautious when issuing hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign aid.

It goes on to say that there is “indisputable evidence” to show that Ukraine’s leaders tried to interfere in the 2016 presidential election in support of Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. The report states that the “Indisputable evidence shows that senior Ukrainian government officials sought to influence the 2016 election in favor of Secretary Clinton and against then-candidate Trump.”

Also, House Republicans say there was no “quid pro quo” when he asked the Ukrainian President to investigate the alleged corruption of Hunter Biden. The report lists the authors as Congressmen Devin Nunes, Jim Jordan and Mike McCaul. These three are the top Republicans on the House Intelligence, Judiciary and Foreign Affairs committees, respectively. House Democrats have largely dismissed and criticized the report.
