A United Nations story headline read: “U.S. has world’s highest rate of children in detention,” but the story was unacceptable so they retracted it. It was unacceptable because the record high number of child detentions occurred under former president Barack Obama and not under President Trump. But most people don’t know this because mainstream media didn’t use the report since it makes Obama look bad.

Agence France-Presse (AFP) and Reuters attributed the information to a study by the UN on detainment of migrant children at the U.S.-Mexico border, but it was data from 2015 — so the story was deleted, not corrected but removed!

Reuters reported on November 18, 2019:

“A Nov. 18 story headlined “U.S. has world’s highest rate of children in detention -U.N. study” is withdrawn. The United Nations issued a statement on Nov. 19 saying the number was not current but was for the year 2015. No replacement story will be issued.”

AFP tweeted on November 19, 2019: “AFP is withdrawing this story. The author of the report has clarified that his figures do not represent the number of children currently in migration-related US detention, but the total number of children in migration-related US detention in 2015.”
