President Trump made a surprise visit to the U.S. troops in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving day. With extra security measures to prevent leakage to the press, Air Force One landed in Afghanistan, after a 13-hour flight, before noon just in time for the Thanksgiving meal.

Trump was accompanied with White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham, National Security Adviser Robert O’Brien, Acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney, Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere, and Sen. John Barrasso (R-WYO).

“It’s a dangerous area and he (the President) wants to support the troops,” said Grisham. “He and Mrs. Trump recognize that there is a lot of people who are away from their families during the holidays and we thought it would be a nice surprise.”

President Trump helped serve Thanksgiving dinner — turkey, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and baked ham— to the troops at Bagram airbase, and eventually joined them.

Meanwhile, Trump-hating Newsweek reporter Jessica Kwong falsely reported the President was spending his Thanksgiving by golfing and tweeting. The Newsweek headline read: “How is Trump Spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, Golfing, and More.”

Donald Trump Jr tweeted “Fake news gonna fake!” with a screenshot of the Newsweek article with a caption: FAKE NEWS VS. REALITY

The President replied by tweeting, “I thought Newsweek was out of business?”

Kwong never apologized for her lame attempt to make President Trump look bad on Thanksgiving. Instead, Kwong tweeted it was “an honest mistake,” along with the edited version of the story.
