Last month, the FBI sought an interview with the CIA whistleblower who made the complaint about President Trump’s phone call with President Zelensky and launched the impeachment inquiry, according to Yahoo News.

An FBI agent from the Washington field office contacted the lawyers representing the whistleblower and asked to question the CIA whistleblower. The whistleblower has not agreed to an interview yet, and it is unclear what the planned scope of the FBI questioning would be, and whether the lawyers for the whistleblower agree to allow the interview.

The FBI’s request came after the whistleblower and his lawyers have received several threats. But the FBI agent who attempted to question the whistleblower did not ask about the threats, according to the sources.

The source concluded that it was clear the whistleblower was not the target of an investigation, but rather, a possible witness.

The whistleblower was not on the call between President Trump and President Zelensky on July 25, and is not even regarded a first-hand witness. The whistleblower gathered the issues that were passed on to him by other colleagues on the National Security Council and forwarded them in his complaint.
