President Trump has turned the tables on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) on Monday, calling for their impeachment on a variety of crimes. The two Democrats are the leaders in the push to impeach the President.

President Trump tweeted that “Nervous Nancy” and Shifty Adam Schiff (also “Liddle Adam” later in the tweet) were deceiving the American people by continuing to push for impeachment based on the claims of a “highly partisan ‘Whistleblower’ & lawyer”. The President continued by saying this constituted “High Crimes and Misdemeanors, and even Treason”.

This comes on the heels of two major revelations last week. The first is that the original “whistleblower” is a registered Democrat and had no first-hand knowledge of the call with the President of the Ukraine. The second, which is what the “lawyer” part of the tweet is about, is that the Whistleblowers lawyer, Mark Zaid, now claims to have a second whistleblower who does have firsthand knowledge of the call. This is an interestingly timed claim right when the first whistleblower was losing credibility.

One factual thing to note abut the President’s tweet; members of congress cannot actually be impeached. That mechanism for removing someone from office only applies to the President. Members of congress would have to be recalled by their constituents.
