Judge Victor Marrero ruled that the president has to turn over his tax returns to Manhattan prosecutors.

The New York City federal judge dismissed Trump’s lawsuit that was blocking Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus R. Vance Jr from acquiring Trump’s tax returns.

“As the court reads it, presidential immunity would stretch to cover every phase of criminal proceedings, including investigations, grand jury proceedings and subpoenas, indictment, prosecution, arrest, trial, conviction, and incarceration,” Judge Marrero wrote. “That constitutional protection presumably would encompass any conduct, at any time, in any forum, whether federal or state, and whether the President acted alone or in concert with other individuals.”

Trump’s attorneys stated that the request for the president’s tax returns from 2011 to the present should cease because Trump is immune from all criminal investigation as long as he is president.

After Trump’s legal team appealed the judge’s ruling, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit granted Trump a temporary stay of enforcement of a grand jury subpoena.

President Trump blasted Judge Marrero’s decision on social media. Monday morning, Trump tweeted, “The Radical Left Democrats have failed on all fronts, so now they are pushing local New York City and State Democrat prosecutors to go get President Trump. A thing like this has never happened to any President before. Not even close!”
