On Wednesday morning two similar looking hashtags were both shown to be “trending” by twitter. One, was started by President Trump when he tweeted out the hashtag #DONOTHINGDEMS and the other was a liberal response to that, #DoNothingDonald.

The interesting thing about these two trending topics is how strongly #DONNOTHINGDEMS was trending vs #DoNothingDonald. The liberal version of the hashtag only has about 10% of the mentions that the president’s hashtag does. In fact, at the time of writing this, the left wing hashtag was by far the lowest trending topic in the trending section. The anti-President Trump hashtag has just over 1K mentions while the President’s tweet sparked 11k+ tweets and that ratio is surely much bigger by the time you read this.

This eyebrow-raising ratio comes as many conservatives believe that social media purposefully inflates left leaning posts while either ignoring, censoring, or limiting right posts from and about those on the right.
