Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is leading the congressional impeachment proceedings about the Ukraine phone call whistleblower. During the session, Schiff began reading lines from the phone call and, without any clarification, began editorializing and making up dialogue while continuing to act as though he was reading directly from the transcript.

Schiff began with reading from the transcript and quickly veered off into statements that were not anywhere in the transcript. These included statements such as “ya know what? I don’t see much reciprocity here,” and, “I want you to make up dirt on my political opponent. You understand? Lots of it.” He carried on making up dialogue for over a minute.

After being questioned by Republicans about his fictional “reading of the President’s statements Schiff looked like a deer in headlights as he responded, “my summary of the President’s call was meant to be, at least part in parody.” He went on to say, “of course the President never said… umm… if I ah… ‘if you don’t understand me I’m gonna say it seven more times’. My point is that’s the message the Ukraine President was receiving. In not so many words”

President Trump took to twitter shortly thereafter and rightly questioned the congressman’s credibility and motives. The President also called for his resignation and for an investigation into his actions.

A Democratic congressman who is leading impeachment proceedings adding fake lines to a call transcript is unprecedented. This incident has severely damaged Schiff’s credibility and probably should disqualify him from being involved in these hearings. It is also very telling of how desperate the Democrats are in their quest for the impeachment of President Trump and how far they are willing to go to make it happen using any means necessary.
