Former Senator Says 35 Republican Senators Would Vote to Convict the President if the Voting was Secret
Noted Trump critic and former Republican Senator from Arizona Jeff Flake participated in a Q&A at the Texas Tribune Festival in Austin, TX Thursday. During the session, he said that he believed that 35 of the 53 Republican Senators would vote to convict President Trump IF the voting were held in secret.

“I heard someone say if there were a private vote there would be 30 Republican votes. That's not true," Flake said during a Q&A. "There would be at least 35." https://t.co/rfqRg1Bnrr
The former Senator made the statement during the event and said, “I heard someone say if there were a private vote [on impeachment in the Senate] there would be 30 Republican votes. That’s not true. There would be at least 35.”
This statement seemingly referenced a quote from another prominent Trump critic, Mike Murphy. Murphy is a Republican political consultant and former advisor to “Low-energy” Jeb Bush and “Failed” Mitt Romney. He has been very vocal with his negative predictions is regards to the President. He said this week on MSNBC that 30 Republican Senators would vote to impeach President Trump if the vote was secret.
Impeachment proceedings will force Republican Senators to either admit complicity with this president or condemn his treasonous behavior.

This comes from political commentator Murphy who also incorrectly predicted that following the midterm elections of 2018 “Donald Trump will be alone, despised by his own party, a failure rebuked by the nation, and politically neutered,” and that President Trump would only be president until “early 2019.”
