President Trump has been handed a much-deserved victory in the California courts system. The ultra-liberal state had been trying to pass laws that required Presidential candidates to release 5 years of tax returns.

The victory for President Trump marks a big win in the first of two legal battles over his tax returns. The other, in New York, is still ongoing but this ruling signals that the east coast lawsuit should result in a Democratic loss as well.

California Democrats were trying to put a law in place whereby anyone on the March 2020 Presidential primary ballot would be legally required to release their last 5 years of tax returns. California Judge Morrison England Jr. correctly ruled that it is the Constitution of the United States, not California, which sets the requirements for running for President.

President Trump and his campaign team have stated that these lawsuits in New York and California are without merit. They believe that these are systematic attempts from the far left to harass the President and hinder his likely reelection.
