Katie Jo Williams, an Army National Guardsman and combat veteran, was stripped of the “Miss Nevada State 2019” title because of her conservative political views last Sunday. Katie was told by pageant officials to remove some content from her Facebook page, but when she asked what specific posts she needed to delete, she never got an answer.

The pageant officials told Katie that she was “too political.”

Katie explained in a Facebook video, “The pageant’s actually this Saturday. So, that means everything’s been paid for. Everything’s been done. All the sponsor money has been collected, and now I don’t get to compete.”

Katie was told to surrender her crown and sash, and was ordered never to speak of the pageant or she would be liable.

Katie explained, “I feel like if I have more liberal views and less conservative views then this wouldn’t even be an issue. She assured me that that was not the case. And yet as soon as I turn around there are posts about Human Rights Campaign, which are great. I’m all for the Human Rights Campaign. But for them to not say anything about that and then for them to criticize me for supporting my sitting president? I couldn’t even believe it.”

“I am so tired of being labeled as this crazy, right wing, whatever you want to call it,” Katie said. “I just don’t understand how you could censor someone with conservative values when I’m not even really saying anything that’s bad.”

Katie’s Facebook page is covered with political posts, mostly conservative and Pro-Trump.
