Facebook Pulls 'Women For Trump' Ad Because It Violates Policy
Facebook pulled “Women for Trump” ads on Monday because they violate Facebook’s advertising policies. The tech site Gizmodo and the left-wing blog Popular Information reported the ad which featured a group of women with the caption, “The Women for Trump Coalition needs the support of strong women like you!”
A Facebook spokesperson told Gizmodo, “the ad violated a section of its policies that prohibits ‘content that asserts or implies personal attributes,’ including direct or indirect assertions or implications about traits such as race, ethnicity, gender and sexual identity, religion, or financial standing.” The spokesperson stated that “they cannot continue to run unless fixed.”
The “Women for Trump” ad assumes the gender of the persons in the photo as well as the user. But some are saying that Facebook is not that “woke” and this is more about Facebook not wanting its users to know that advertisers can see data when targeting their ads. The social media giant wants to know everything about its users so that they will have more data to sell.
