Officials Call Baltimore a 'Ghetto' and 'War Zone,' But When Trump Says It He's a 'Racist'
Once again, President Trump is being called a “racist” for stating things that many others have said before. Trump called House Oversight Committee Chairman Elijah Cummings’ district a “rat and rodent infested mess.”
The president tweeted, “Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA. As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.”

Thomas V. Miller, AKA Mike Miller, has held the position as president of the Maryland Senate since 1987. Miller has been a state senator since 1975.
Here’s a clip from 1989 of Miller speaking about the city of Baltimore, referring to it as a “ghetto” and a “war zone.”

Here’s Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh taking a tour of a dilapidated Baltimore neighborhood in 2018. In the video, Mayor Pugh says, “What the hell? We should just take all this sh*t down. Whoa, you can smell the rats. Whew, Jesus. Oh, my God, you can smell the dead animals.”

Baltimore is number nine on Orkin’s list of top ten most rat-infested cities. Chelle Hartzer, an Orkin entomologist, stated in a press release, “Aside from causing structural damage, rodents can carry hundreds of pathogens that can transmit various diseases and dangerous parasites. Additionally, they constantly leave behind droplets of urine as they travel each day. These droppings can contribute to asthma and allergic reactions, especially in children.”
Bernie Sanders toured the city himself and had plenty to say about the city of Baltimore. “But anyone who took the walk that we took around this neighborhood would not think you’re in a wealthy nation; you would think that you were in a Third World country. … But today, what we’re talking about is a community in which half of the people don’t have jobs. We’re talking about a community in which there are hundreds of buildings that are uninhabitable. We’re talking about a community where kids are unable to go to schools that are decent,” said Sanders.

Was it “racist” when Bernie had this to say about Baltimore? 🤔pic.twitter.com/2aLOGoVXA2
Sanders also tweeted about Baltimore residents back in 2016, “Residents of Baltimore’s poorest boroughs have lifespans shorter than people living under dictatorship in North Korea. That is a disgrace.”

Last April, the Baltimore Sun was concerned with the rat infestation, as you can see from the headline which read: Baltimore’s perpetual trash problem. But notice how just three months later, the Baltimore Sun’s headline reads: Better to have a few rats then to be one.
This is the perfect example of #TrumpDerangementSyndrome #TDS.

Only 3 months later, they are accepting of a rat infestation.

Here’s what a Baltimore resident had to say about Elijah Cummings.
Baltimore resident Michelle on CNN’s Victor Blackwell suggesting Trump was racist for his tweet:

“Trump is not racist … I’m glad he put [Cummings] on blast. The rats just didn’t come. These houses just didn’t get torn down, they’ve been like this”

Benny Johnson visited Cummings’ district and interviewed some of the residents.
On crime in Rep. Cummings’ district:

- Every constituent said that murders, shootings, drugs run rampant.
- Many told me they were scared & do not go outside after dark.
- One elderly man, “It did not used to be this way. Now we kill each other. Why? Because no one has a job." pic.twitter.com/h221SnGXpd
Let’s hope with all the attention Baltimore is getting that the city officials will finally take care of the rat infestation problem and the other issues.
