Jeffrey Epstein was found in the fetal position lying on the floor of his jail cell with some bruising around his neck Wednesday night. The 66-year-old accused sex trafficker has been placed under suicide watch at the federal Metropolitan Correctional Center.

Two NBC News sources claim Epstein may have tried to kill himself, but another source suggest that he could have staged it to get a transfer to a different facility. A fourth source said that an assault might have occurred since authorities had questioned another inmate, Nicholas Tartaglione.

Tartaglione, a former Briarcliff Manor police officer, was arrested in December 2016, and is awaiting trial for allegedly killing four men in a cocaine distribution conspiracy. The bodies of the men were found in the yard of his Otisville home. Tartaglione is charged with four counts of murder and drug conspiracy.

On July 3, just days before Epstein was taken into custoday, Tartaglione was caught with a cellphone in his possession.

The news of Epstein’s attempted “suicide” came the same day the Daily Beast released their story headlined, “Jeffrey Epstein Visited Clinton White House Multiple Times in Early ’90s.” The Daily Beast revealed that Epstein had a connection to former president Bill Clinton since his earliest days in the White House. The article gave evidence that Epstein had made visits several times from 1993-2001.

After a day of Mueller’s testimony and Epstein’s latest situation, Twitter users woke to hashtags #EpsteinSuicide and #ClintonBodyCount trending heavily. #ClintonBodyCount is a reference to an old conspiracy theory, but of course, the use of the hashtag is being blamed on Russian bots.
