Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, better known as AOC, expressed a desire to “rein in” the media as a means of combating the spread of fake news. The lawmaker expressed that desire during a live stream on Tuesday. “Several members of Congress, in some of my discussions, have brought up ‘media literacy,’ because that is a part of what happened here,” AOC said in a clip from the stream that was posted to Twitter. “We’re going to need to figure out how we rein in our media environment, so that you can’t just spew disinformation and misinformation.”

“It’s one thing to have differing opinions,” she added, “But it’s another thing entirely to just say things that are false. So that’s something we’re looking into.” AOC is actually advocating for the state control of the media, which is only done in authoritarian countries. This is not surprising to many since she has described herself to be a socialist.

The Democrats already have effective control of the mainstream media. During the four years that President Trump was in office, they never covered him in a positive light. They also have the backing of the Big Tech companies who are now censoring platforms that allow free speech.

“White supremacists [were] ordered by President Trump to attack the Capitol,” she said, “There were acts of betrayal [by police]. And, to run in the Capitol and not know if an officer is there to help you or harm you is also quite traumatizing.” AOC said blaming the police, but at the same time, they were also advocating for the defunding of police all over the country. She is also spreading a piece of fake news herself since the President did not order his supporters to attack the Capitol.

If she had her way, AOC would have state control over all media outlets so she can decide what gets reported and what is kept as a secret by the state. Many leftists advocate for conservatives to be reeducated, which is another term for keeping them in concentration camps.
