On Sunday, Democrat and House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Adam Schiff suggested that President Donald Trump is using former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn to instigate a “military coup.”

Speaking for left-wing media, MSNBC’s “Weekends”, Schiff described the President as having “no moral compass,” and that his lack of values and desperation might lead him to call out a “military coup.”

The Intelligence Committee chairman responded after he was asked whether he believes that there is a possibility that former vice-President Joe Biden might not validate his win. “There’s no chance of that,” Schiff said. He went on to say that Trump would not step down without a fight and hinted that the President planned to call out his supporters to instigate acts of civil disturbances during Biden’s inauguration. He went on by saying that while he remained confident that Trump’s plan to challenge Biden’s win in Congress will eventually fail, Schiff feared that it might cause “long-term damage” to the country’s democracy.

“The president, through his actions, is creating a permanent class of citizens who believe their election was stolen when it wasn’t,” the Democrat said. The show’s host then hinted that there had been numerous reports which suggest that Trump will go to great lengths to overturn the election results. The show’s host then played several clips from Newsmax. Flynn could be heard in the said footage that there are still avenues for Trump to challenge the election results. One of which is by using the country’s military capabilities to assign military forces on swing states and rerun the election on those states.

Flynn continued by saying that Trump could also issue a “martial law,” noting that the practice is nothing new since it had been implemented in history 64 times. In response to Flynn’s statements, Schiff said that he “shutter” every time he sees the former National Security Advisor. Schiff said that Flynn’s suggestions take the President’s lawsuits into a different kind of attempt. “That may have been done 60 times in history, but it’s been done by dictators around the world, not in the United States,” Schiff said.

The Democrat continued by describing Trump as a man without any “moral compass.” He then believed that even if Trump is capable of issuing a martial law, Schiff predicted that it would ultimately fail and that his attempt would leave a “destructive blow” to the country’s democracy.

However, the President continued to stand firm in his decision to contest the election results, citing countless pieces of evidence that his legal team had uncovered, which proves that voter fraud had indeed taken place. The President even stated that while he does not have any issues facing his electoral loss, he cannot allow an “illegitimate president” to lead the country.

Schiff had also stood as a vocal anti-Trump critic and had even led the President’s impeachment trial, which ultimately failed.
