PRIVILEGE: Biden’s Niece Avoids Jail Time
It seems that Hunter Biden is not the only one who brings trouble to the family after the former Vice President Joe Biden’s niece also avoided jail time despite pleading guilty for a DUI charge.
The judge sentenced 33-year old Caroline Biden to a mere 20 days to six months of “confinement” during her sentencing on Dec. 3 in Pennsylvania. The court records showed that the sentence was a part of her plea deal with the Montgomery County district attorney. The deal includes spending 20 days in rehab and only five months of probation with no jail time.
According to a report from The New York Post, a spokesperson from the DA office confirmed that the younger Biden “will be on probation … Should she then violate or break the law at any time, then she will be on the hook for the rest of the sentence.”
Caroline is the daughter of James Biden, the President-elect’s brother. Just like her daughter, James was also involved in a much bigger criminal case, which involved Hunter in dubious hospital business, Americore Health. Based on reports, the younger Biden was arrested in August of 2019, after she plowed her car into a tree. At that time, the officer noticed that she had difficulty answering his questions. The officer also caught her driving without a license.
Authorities eventually found pill bottles of controlled medication in her car, such as carisoprodol, and lorazepam. Tests also confirmed that the drugs were in her system. Ironically, Caroline’s arraignment was held on Nov. 4, just a day after the election.
This is not the first time that Caroline had run into some trouble. The Post, who described her as a “wild child’ was also able to strike a plea deal without any jail time after stealing over $100,000 in a credit card scam in 2017. According to the Post, Caroline borrowed a credit card from someone she knew and created an “unauthorized” customer account at a Sixth Avenue Pharmacy. In a year, the Vice-President’s niece was able to rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars in credit card debt.
The credit card owner, who refused to be identified, filed a criminal complaint against Caroline. She then quietly entered into a plea deal where she pleaded guilty to one charge of grand larceny and another petit larceny. Caroline was also forced to pay $110,810.04 to the victim.
Then in 2013, Caroline also threw punches and tried to resist an arrest in her Tribeca apartment. On the other hand, Caroline’s cousin, Hunter, is also at the center of a criminal investigation over his tax accounts and his suspicious foreign business deals, specifically with his involvement with Chinese oligarchs.
To add to their long rap sheet, Hunter’s sister, Ashley, was also caught on camera in a cocaine-fueled session in 2009. A decade earlier, the then 17-year-old was also arrested and subsequently released for possessing marijuana in New Orleans, as headlines described Ashley as a “hot” party girl.
