In an interview, President-Elect Joe Biden’s incoming White House deputy chief of staff, Jen O’Malley Dillon, thrashed Republicans by calling them a “bunch of f*ckers,” while talking about the new administration’s path to healing.

Dillion made the contradicting statements during an interview with Glamour Magazine. In the article, Dillion shared the interview with best-selling author Glennon Doyle, who shared the ups and downs of motherhood. In their discussion, Dillion was asked to comment on the second stimulus bill and whether she believes that the compromise made with the Republican lawmakers made it difficult for the Democrats to pursue their goals.

The incoming deputy chief of staff immediately responded, hinting at the GOP politicians, “I’m not saying they’re not a bunch of fuckers.” She then blasted the Senate Majority leader by adding, “Mitch McConnell is terrible.”

After blasting the Republicans, Dillion then moved on to praise Biden and the promise of his new administration. The incoming chief of staff claimed that what she liked about Biden’s agenda is that from the beginning to the end of his campaign trail, he had constantly talked about healing and undoing the damages made by the Trump administration. She believed that Biden had successfully; shared the message that unity and healing are still possible.

While Dillion might have made an off-handed comment, she immediately received a massive backlash. In fact, Biden’s advisers are concerned about the deep impact that an incoming chief of staff might have in the new administration.

In an article published by Axios, the media outlet noted that Biden’s campaign specifically focuses on the idea of healing, and Dillion’’s statements were nowhere near the said promise. The media outlet explained, “Fighting words from a high-level staffer could give Republicans ammunition to cast doubt on Biden’s sincerity.”

In addition, Axios noted that Dillion’’s statements might have been the first sign of cracks, such as issues of division, breaking into the new administration.

On Tuesday, McConnell finally recognized Biden’s win after the Electoral College certifies his win in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. In response, the President-elect thanked the Senate Majority leader for recognizing his win, adding that they both had a “good conversation.” This did not come as a surprise since McConnel and Biden had worked together in the Senate for decades,
