Joe Biden is reportedly eyeing New York Governor Andrew Cuomo to be his Attorney General in case he gets into the White House. Eric Tucker, an Associated Press reporter, claims that an insider with knowledge about Biden’s selection process has confirmed Cuomo to be on the list. Other candidates being considered reportedly include Alabama Democrat Sen. Doug Jones, former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, and federal appeals court judge Merrick Garland.

Cuomo has been serving as governor since 2011 and will be finishing his third term in 2022. Cuomo served as New York Attorney General before he became the governor. He also served as the secretary of Housing and Urban Development under Bill Clinton.

Back in October, Cuomo claimed that he has no interest in joining a possible Biden cabinet. “I’m a New Yorker,” Cuomo told reporters. “I said I would serve as governor and those rumors—those are only from people who want to get me out of New York… I have no interest in going to Washington.”

If Cuomo is nominated, he will be facing a hard time getting confirmed. He is a very controversial figure right now after his order has directly caused the deaths of thousands of elderly residents in New York nursing homes. Instead of taking responsibility for what he had done, he has tried to shift the blame to President Trump and the federal government.

Cuomo has also been criticized for daring to publish a book about his leadership during the coronavirus pandemic even though the disease is still ravaging his state.

Biden has been making problematic decisions for his possible cabinet. Even leftists are having issues with his choices. There are reports that he is considering Susan Rice for a senior post in his cabinet, even though she has made a lot of mistakes with her foreign policies. His choice of Lloyd Austin, as Secretary of Defense, is also raising some concerns about his policy towards China during a crucial period.
