In yet another demonstration of how American schools are becoming ideological battlegrounds, a high school has just banned a yearbook photo of a student because she posed with the U.S. flag draped around her. Lewis and Clark High School in Spokane, Washington issued a statement in which they tried to clarify why they have decided to reject the image. The school said that they have rejected the image not because it represented the country but out of respect.

The school came up with the excuse that the way the flag was being depicted was disrespectful. “We respect our flag as much as any school in the area and were concerned that in the photo submitted it was being used as a prop in the photo and was not being afforded appropriate regard.”

But there was nothing disrespectful with the way the flag is being shown in the photo. The student in the picture was not happy with the decision of the school. “The fact that I can’t have my senior picture in the yearbook because it contains the American flag in it amazes me,” she said in a Facebook post, in which she also shared a screenshot of the message she received from the school.

The school is now just claiming that they found the use of the flag disrespectful as an excuse because of the controversy the incident is drawing. The teachers at the school might be leftists who are offended at the sight of the American flag and would rather have it banned from public places.

Leftists have been attacking the student for wanting to display the flag on her photo. She has responded to her critics on a Facebook post. “If everyone keeps claiming that I am using the flag as ‘clothing’ then there’s no way that it could be a ‘prop’ therefore making it acceptable in the yearbook,” she said.

The incident is just the latest one that shows how American schools are brainwashing students into hating the American way of life. Nothing demonstrates that better than having the flag of the country banned in yearbook photos.
