On Tuesday, attorney and vocal anti-administration critic, George Conway declared that President Donald Trump had officially lost the election.

In an episode for CNN’s “The Lead”, he urged the President and the rest of the Republican party to accept that Trump had lost the Nov.3 election. During the discussion, the show’s host and his fellow anti-Trumper, Jake Tapper asked the attorney how Republican Senators such as Mitch McConnell and Kevin McCarthy can continue to deny the reality that the President had lost the election. He added that while he had already expected that Trump would deny his failure, Tapper wondered how long can Republican figures keep up with the President’s tirade.

Conway responded by saying that the Republican Party did a good job in denying that they failed. Referring to the Supreme Court’s dismissal of the lawsuit against the state of Pennsylvania, he believed that the decision marks the final nail in the President’s coffin over his attempts to suggest that he was the legitimate winner.

The Trump-critic also explained the purpose of the “Safe Harbor day”, a provision which was cited in Article 2 of the U.S. Constitution which serves as an important electoral deadline. According to the provision, it mandated Congress to recognize the electors that were certified by the states. Within that day, the states should have resolved all the legal challenges and recounts.

Unfortunately, this meant that key battleground states such as Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Arizona made it to the deadline and certified former Vice-President, Joe Biden’s win.

The Trump critic concluded that “This is over.” In fact, Conway believed that the fight had been over for a long time. He continued by saying that December 14 will finally secure Biden’s electoral victory as states meet to cast their votes. “This cake has been baked for a long time,” Conway noted. He also shared his disbelief on how people can continue to pretend that the President still had a chance to overturn the results. “It’s just gotten to the point of just delusion, a combination of delusion and an absolute mendacity of some people,” Conway said.”

His statements came after the Supreme Court dismissed Kelly’s lawsuit against the state of Pennsylvania, noting that the changes they have in their laws about mail-in ballot systems are deemed to be unconstitutional. On the other hand, the state of Texas also stood along with the President to file lawsuits in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Georgia.
